Bunka 文化 is one of the four types of multi-purpose Japanese kitchen knives; Santoku, Bunka, Gyuto, and Kiritsuke. It is typically available in lengths of 165mm, 170mm and 180mm. It is suitable for basically anyone, but particularly designed for the domestic cooks. Bunka is basically a Santoku with the slashed tip or often called K (Kiritsuke)-tip. It is nimble and easy to use. It was born during a period that Japan was modernizing by the western influences and translates to ‘Culture’ which was interchangeably meant modern in the old days in Japan.
